Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you charge?
I charge a fee of $250 per 50 minute session. I also offer a limited number of reduced fee sessions $220 for 50 minutes for concession card holders and students. Please note that when these sessions are filled I am unable to take on any further reduced fee sessions.
Do you offer Medicare rebates?
Yes. I’m registered for Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) rebates. I’m not able to bulk bill however once you pay the session fee we can put through the claim to Medicare for your rebate.
How does telehealth actually work?
Sessions happen via Telehealth through Zoom from wherever you are in Australia. You'll get a link on the day of each session and no app is needed beyond a browser. We can then meet in a space that works best for you — it can help to choose somewhere private and easeful, where you feel free to speak openly and can settle in, as a space that's just yours for our time together.
What happens in the first session?
We'll start by going through my client agreement together — things like confidentiality and privacy — and make sure everything's clear, with space for any questions, so we're on the same page from the outset.
From there, we'll spend time exploring what's brought you to see me now, what you might have tried before, and what you're hoping to work toward or see change.
For some people, this gives a good sense of where things might head from here. For others, it can take a few sessions to really get a clear picture of what's going on and find our direction together and that's a completely normal part of the process, not something to be concerned about. Alongside this, one of the things we'll be prioritising is whether it feels like a good fit working together. I generally find two to three sessions gives us both a genuine sense of that.
Do I offer EMDR?
Yes. I'm trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and use it regularly in my work. For some people, it's woven into broader, ongoing therapy; for others, it works well as a more targeted piece on its own, focused on a specific memory or experience rather than longer-term work. If EMDR is specifically what you're after, let me know when you reach out, and we can talk about whether it fits as a standalone piece or as part of something deeper.
Who do I work best with?
I work with individual women and young adults (aged 18-30) navigating neurodivergence, life transitions, complex trauma and stress, fertility and pregnancy loss, and relationship or connection difficulties. You can read more about this here.
Who is this not the right fit for?
As a solo, telehealth-only practice, I'm not able to support significant risk presentations — including self-harm, suicidality, eating disorders, or substance use — but I'm happy to provide options for service that can. Is there a wrong time to start therapy?
Is there a right time to start?
No. Some people come in mid-crisis; others come after years of something quietly building or when things are more settled and they want a place to reflect. any of these are the right time — there’s no threshold you need to cross first.
What’s a session actually like?
Each session runs for about 50 minutes. This allows time for me to write any notes, reflect on our work together and write any required letters to GPs.
Sessions can look different depending on what you need. Some people prefer to sit and talk; others need room to move, stand, or adjust the space around them, and we can adapt to sensory or executive functioning needs as they come up. We don't follow a fixed script — mostly, we'll follow what's live for you that day, drawing on whatever feels relevant or important to you. At times, though, we'll work in a more focused way — for example, returning to a specific piece we're processing together. Throughout, I pay close attention to what's happening between us as much as what's being said, working with the interplay between you and the context you're living in.
Do I need to know what’s wrong before I start?
No. Working out what's actually going on is often part of the process itself, not a prerequisite for starting it. It can take time to get clarity and that's a normal part of the work, not a sign that something isn't working.
What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?
That's more common than people expect, and it doesn't mean therapy itself isn't for you — it might mean the approach or the fit wasn't right, or that it simply wasn't the right time in your life. We can take some time to work out your experience and explore what might be important for us to keep in mind this time around.
How do you work with neurodivergent clients specifically?
My approach isn't about fixing or managing neurodivergence, it's about understanding it, including understanding the role of and what is both costs and protects for you. I welcome hearing what would help, whether that's an adjustment from me, or the way, place, or time we meet. You can read more about how I work here.
How long does the work usually take?
This varies from person to person. We often work on trying to find some relief in the early sessions, while deeper or longer-standing patterns tend to need some medium to longer-term work.
